RecycleIN

Sustainability is a big issue this days. Many companies and NGO’s [non governmental organizations] are investing energy,money , people in making the world more aware about our long term plans and about our far future.

There are many organizations in Romania but still not enough interested in sustanability. One of the organizations that is very interested in developing and making people , especially students, more aware about sustainability is AIESEC Timisoara. How they make all this? By creating a international conference on the issue of recycling.[RecycleIN]

They created RecycleIN to teach students about sustainability and making the public more aware about the issue of recycling . The students will learn about recycling :

2. Waste products [ You’ll learn about: the recycling process for paper, plastic, metals and other materials used to pack (some) products. ] [2] ;

3. Electoronics and appliances [ You’ll learn about: CSR strategies in the area of recycling electronics and appliances, the history of electronics, the buy-back system, how to reuse different components of electronics. ] [3] ;

How to sell Ice cream!

I was walking in Istanbul and I saw this Turkish guy [photo] selling ice cream on the street. I was so amused and amazed about their selling skills.

I really like this about them, they know how to sell, how to behave with costumers and how to attract them whiteout any management or selling knowledge. It’s in their blood.

Selling BIG BIG Ice creams

Here is a 1 minute movie I made about selling ice cream in Istanbul.

why I didn’t get the visa for Bahrain?

I’m talking with friends from all around the world and they have the same question for me “Why you didn’t get the visa for Bahrain ?” .

So I decided to post-it! Because I’m Romanian, and it’s very hard for Eastern Europeans to get in Bahrain, because AIESEC didn’t receive some papers from Ministry of Labor [with that paper AIESEC could give visas to internationals].

How social media is changing the news

The social media is booming, and is changing the news in the world. Twitter and Facebook reported earlier then CNN that Michael Jackson died or that in Iran is a revolution. The social media starts to be more faster and efficient then any other newspaper in the world.

The World Association of Newspapers is coordinating a campaign to demand compensation from Google and other search engines for unfairly exploiting newspaper, magazine and book publishers’s content, according to the Financial Times (via MediaBuyerPlanner).[1]

Today on Twitter you can find out news faster then on newspapers or TV.

Clay Shirky [2] has a great TED talk about how the social media is making history by helping citizens report the real news in the world. It’s a perfect TED talk after all the events happening this days in Iran and Moldova. I love how Shirky is showing us the history of news and how big is the social media today.

new book to read

Today I was visiting and shopping in Istanbul and I found a cool book to read in the next week. The book is translated in Romanian and it’s name is “Qua ran” holy book of Islam. It was a good feeling to see Qua ran in Romanian [ Coranul ]. I’m so interested in this religion. I want to understand it because I really don’t understand the Muslim women [ conservative one - covering all parts of their body with black clothes ]

Istanbul [not]changing

Last time when I was in Istanbul it was in 2007, now after 2 years I’m back here and I feel that people didn’t change, they are still friendly  and kind. They invite you to their homes, they take care of you and they talk about Mustafa Kemal [Ataturk - Father of Turks]. I believe the Turkish culture will never have big changes.

But the city Istanbul is changing is becoming more and more bigger , whit traffic jams and a lot of people coming from rural areas to find jobs here. Like Eren [mt turkish friend]

told me, to visit a friend in Asian part of Istanbul you need to travel with the bus around 3 hours. First I didn’t believe him , bit after he toke me to one of his good friend I realized that it can take more that 3 hours. Imagine the morning when u go to work. :)

Have a look how big is Istanbul from this photos.

To many boys in Istanbul :(

Opera Unite Revolution

Hello dear bloggers/readers.

What are you doing when you want to share pictures with your friends? You are uploading them on Facebook or Flickr, right?! If you want to share a file you upload the file on yousendit.com orOpera [Romanian version www.transfer.ro ], what are you doing when you have a blog/webpage, you make a free WordPress/blogger account and they are hosting your site. By the way what are you doing if u want to share a song? You upload you download all the time.

Opera is coming with an easy and very cool web application, Opera Unite that will make your computer a web server.

“Today [16th of June] is the release of the technology of tomorrow. The browser as we know it is about to change. Opera Unite changes the way we interact online.”[1]

How it works? I install Opera Unite, I make an free account and I chose what to share with my friends, colleges or with the world by giving them a password to access my personal computers/notebook.

Try it out*: here is the link for one of my albums[3] and here is the password you need to use to have access to it: vj4TkmQG [**]

“Opera Unite is a collaborative technology that allows you to share data, such as files or photos, directly from your computer with others, without uploading and sharing them through a central, third-party server. The technology behind Opera Unite uses a compact server inside the Opera desktop browser to share data and services on your computer. There is no need to upload files that you want to share; you remain in control. “[2]
